Residential tower and townhouse complex of the kind TAKL staffs with concierge personnel

Concierge & security monitoring for strata & commercial buildings

A staffed front desk for residential towers, mixed-use developments and commercial properties across the Lower Mainland — visitor and contractor sign-in, parcels, access control and amenity bookings. TAKL is a licensed security company, and our concierge staff are trained IT specialists who run your access, camera and intercom systems rather than just sitting beside them. Daytime, evening, overnight or weekend coverage.

Front desk

Someone at the desk changes how a building runs

In a tower without a desk, parcels pile up by the mailboxes, contractors wander in behind whoever opened the door, the moving elevator gets double-booked, and the council hears about all of it afterwards.

A concierge puts one accountable person at the front of the building: visitors and trades signed in, deliveries logged and handed over, fobs issued and recorded, amenities and moves booked properly, and anything unusual written down and passed on the same day.

Our concierge staff are employed, trained and scheduled by us, with relief built in — so a shift does not go unfilled because one person is away.

TAKL is a licensed security company under British Columbia's Security Services Act, and the desk is staffed accordingly — camera and alarm monitoring, access control and incident escalation are part of the shift, handled by people trained on the systems themselves rather than reported to someone else to deal with.

Scope

What the desk handles

Set per building and agreed with the council or property manager before the first shift:

Residents & visitors

A consistent, familiar point of contact at the front of the building, and visitors directed properly rather than wandering.

Contractor sign-in

Trades signed in and out with times recorded, and access to locked rooms supervised rather than handed over.

Parcels & deliveries

Deliveries received, logged and released to the right resident, instead of stacking up in the lobby.

Key & fob custody

Physical keys and fobs signed out, returned and accounted for, with a trail of who holds what.

Amenity & move bookings

Party rooms, guest suites and the moving elevator booked and scheduled so two moves never collide.

Incident logging

Anything out of the ordinary written down and reported to the council or manager the same day.

Camera monitoring

Your existing CCTV watched from the desk during shift, with footage reviewed and the relevant clip flagged when something is reported.

Access system administration

Fobs and cards programmed, revoked and audited in the system itself — not just handed out and written in a binder.

Escalation

When something is wrong, the right call made immediately — police, fire, the property manager or an emergency trade — with the time and detail recorded.

Licensed & technical

Your building's security systems are IT systems now

Access control, cameras, alarms, intercoms — every one of them is networked software running on hardware that needs managing. Most front desks are staffed by someone who can only report that it has stopped working.

So the credential that won't program waits. The camera that dropped offline on Tuesday is still offline on Friday. The directory still lists an owner who sold last spring. None of it is urgent enough for a service call, and all of it matters the day something goes wrong.

TAKL holds a security company licence under British Columbia's Security Services Act, and we staff the desk with trained IT specialists. Your systems get administered during the shift you are already paying for, rather than queued up for someone else to look at.

Access control

Credentials programmed and revoked on the spot, door schedules and groups set up properly, and an access log someone can actually read back when there is a dispute.

Cameras & alarms

Monitored live from the desk — and when footage is needed, found, clipped and handed over the same day instead of a fortnight of back-and-forth.

Intercom & entry

Directory kept current as units turn over, callbox and suite programming done in-house, and faults diagnosed before a service call gets booked.

Coverage

Staff the hours the building needs

Round-the-clock coverage is rarely the right starting point. Most buildings begin with their busiest shifts.

Daytime

Weekday coverage for deliveries, trades and move-ins — the hours most buildings feel the gap first.

Evenings & weekends

Cover for when residents are actually home, guests arrive and amenity rooms are in use.

Overnight & relief

Overnight desk coverage, plus vacation and sick-leave relief for concierge staff you already employ.

Questions

Concierge FAQ

A concierge is the staffed presence at the front of the building: greeting residents and visitors, signing in contractors and deliveries, handling parcels, issuing and logging fobs and keys, booking amenities and the moving elevator, noting incidents, and calling the right person when something is wrong. Our concierge staff also monitor the camera and access systems from the desk and administer them directly, because they are trained on those platforms.
TAKL is a licensed security company under British Columbia's Security Services Act. What that covers here is security monitoring — cameras, alarms, access control and incident escalation from a staffed desk. We are not a security guard company: our concierge staff do not patrol the property and do not act in a guarding role. If your building needs patrols, that is a different kind of provider and we will say so.
A concierge is stationed at the front desk and deals with people — residents, visitors, contractors, deliveries. A caretaker is hands-on with the building itself — bins, minor repairs, walkthroughs, cleaning. Larger buildings often want both; smaller ones usually start with a caretaker. See our building caretaker services page for that side of the work.
Yes. Coverage is built around when the building actually needs someone — weekday daytime, evenings, overnight, weekends, or a mix. Many buildings start with the busiest shifts and add hours later rather than committing to round-the-clock coverage straight away.
We do. Vacation, sick leave and gaps between hires are regular reasons buildings call us, and relief shifts mean the desk is not left empty while the council recruits.
Yes — this is the part we are unusual on. Our concierge staff are trained IT specialists who work in access control, camera and intercom platforms as a matter of routine: programming and revoking credentials, configuring door schedules, pulling and exporting footage, keeping the directory current, and spotting a camera or door controller that has dropped offline. Most buildings discover their system is half-broken only when they need footage, which is exactly the wrong moment.
Where the work is monitoring — cameras, alarms, access control and incident escalation from the desk — yes, and folding it into the concierge shift usually makes more sense than running it as a separate contract. Walk us through what your current arrangement covers and we will tell you honestly which parts we can take on and which belong with a different kind of provider.
It depends almost entirely on hours — how many shifts, which times of day, and whether weekends and overnights are included. We will talk through the coverage the building actually needs and quote on that. Quotes are free and most requests get a response within one business day.
